What is Multimedia?The importance of multimedia for us.





Hello everyone . How are you ? How was your weekend so far ?


Multimedia is a very broad term which for real has facilitated both learning and teaching regarding to my opinion. Using different multimedia like powerpoint, or even programs to make videos has made it easier not only but also interesting because it really attracts everyone’s attention when we use such elements ,programs and even effects. It is a very important factor lets say, which helps us to have pleasing processes of both learning and teaching ,not only but in each phase of our lives as well ,even in our everyday lives ,projects .At least that’s what I think about using multimedia, it surely has a great importance.

There are many definitions of multimedia,some of us can remember from highschool ,when multimedia meant using a program with slides,so we identified it with powerpoint only. It  may be defined  as the integration of text, sound, and video.

Using this very broad definition of multimedia, ‘’multimedia in the classroom’’ could include Power Point presentations that are created by the teacher or by the students as well so having it alternated from both pairs, commercial software that is used for reference to something or instructions, or activities that directly engage the students in using multimedia to construct and convey knowledge.
These are some examples of multimedia I found interesting  that I read  in an article, I would like to share it with you :
Have a look.                                             
1)Students using concept-mapping software to brainstorm.
2)Students using a spreadsheet or graphing calculator to record data and produce charts.
3)A small group of students creating a digital movie to demonstrate a procedure
4)A class website that displays student artwork.( just like webquest or padlet we have used so far )
5)Students scanning and importing  images into PowerPoint for different  presentations.

    Hello Aida .I agree with you that Power point is very effective in classbecause it can be created not only by teachers but also from students or being alternated from both pairs .The video about using multimedia in teaching was interesting as well.

    I totally agree with you.If we use technological tools we will have the students attention and they will benefit a lot.They like everything that has to do with the technology.Good Job.
